A little bit of our journey...

Why choose Align Pilates By Rosie?

Align Pilates by Rosie was originally founded in 2018 to teach movement to help heal and support people with injuries, reduce pain, and more widely, to improve fitness and wellbeing. It has grown from just a few classes and one-to-ones, to now offering mat work, Reformer, Cadillac, chair and ante- and post-natal classes in our two studios in Barry, Carnoustie, as well as bespoke individual at home and in studio sessions. Our staff are highly trained, including in physiotherapy, APPI Pilates and reformer. Our ethos is to provide high quality small group and one-to-one teaching where the needs of each individual are prioritised.

We give a personal and professional experience, tailor our Pilates to individual needs and provide trusted and safe studios where clients benefit from a sense of community while improving their health and fitness. All of our group classes are small and have a tailored one to one feel to every session. This allows every individual to achieve the most out of our classes in a safe environment. The movements and exercises are chosen for the individual and adapted in class or in person depending on need.

APPI certified

This ground-breaking approach led to the creation of APPI’s step-by-step programme. Each Pilates exercise was analysed for its effectiveness for clients recovering from injury. Modifications were made, and a unique, graded exercise approach was developed to guide clients from an injured state to a fully fit, functional, and efficient condition. This approach enabled health and fitness professionals to empower clients to embrace Pilates at any fitness level.

Our teachers

Kerri

Kerri has been teaching in our studios for 4 years. Having graduated with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in 1999, Kerri has specialised in the field of musculoskeletal medicine for the last 20 years.

She worked clinically in the UK, Ireland and the West Indies before establishing her own physiotherapy clinic in Edinburgh for 10 years. After relocating back home to Angus when she started a family, Kerri continues to work as a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist, alongside her Pilates teaching role.

Kerri is a fully APPI trained Pilates Instructor and currently teaches all levels of matwork and small equipment classes, with a special interest in ante and postnatal exercise. She brings with her a wealth of experience, and a passion for combining her love of both Physiotherapy and Pilates

Rosie

My early life was in Madagascar where my parents worked in nature conservation. Our family returned to Scotland in 2000, and I started primary school in Barry and went on to high school in Carnoustie. After leaving school I trained as a dancer, and then, after suffering a hair line fracture to my pelvis in 2012, as a dance teacher with the British Ballet Organisation in London. Following qualification, I taught dance in schools and studios across Angus and Tayside.

However, the pain from my injury persisted and led me to physiotherapy and my own Pilates journey. I found that small internal movements taught correctly could make a huge difference to my body and healing. I retrained in APPI Pilates and built the business with this in mind, to help other people understand their own bodies and to have the confidence to enjoy life with more movement and less pain. Now I am a fully certified APPI Pilates teacher, and qualified in mat and post and ante natal Pilates, specialise in pelvis and lower back pain. Trained in APPI equipment series. I have a passion for learning, teaching and inspiring and feel I have come full circle on my journey - our studios are based in the now converted old primary school in Barry.

Laura

I’m a fully qualified Reformer and mat Pilates teacher and am so excited to be working with Rosie in her beautiful studios. My work background is in healthcare, specifically in midwifery and then branching into ultrasound for the last 10 years. I first tried Pilates around 20 years ago and quickly saw the benefits it brings when taught with proper technique and consistent practice. Through teaching classes and in one to one sessions, I hope to help others see and feel the difference Pilates makes, improving posture, flexibility and overall ease of everyday movement. My own Pilates journey is ongoing as I believe it’s important to never stop learning. Under Rosie’s guidance, I aim to continue growing as a Pilates teacher, as well as drawing on her years of experience to deepen my own personal practice as well. I look forward to seeing you in class.
